What's In Pianello?

 

The village is a small, typically Italian place where British tourists are rare. This part of the lake is used primarily by Italians with holiday homes and Germans and Dutch using the small, local camp-sites, however it is just 10 minutes drive from Menaggio, which is a prime tourist area especially with the British and Americans.

 

Sometimes there are regattas of small boats and a good place to watch the races is from the top of the white cafe on the beach (Veranda Beach Cafe).

The apartment is approximately 200 yards from the lakeside and the boat station where boats stop several times through the day (from June to September) to allow exploration of the lake. There is a small playground suitable for younger children just by the village church, which is about 50 yards from the apartment on your way to the lakeside.

 

North along the lakeside from the boat station is a pleasant promenade to Musso and to the south there is a small pebble beach.

 

The village is surprisingly well serviced with good local amenities needed for an enjoyable holiday:-

• Pizzeria (Eat In/Take Away) - Spinnaker
• Bar - Bar Sport (in the Village) & Porto Dicotto (a short walk along the lake towards Musso)

• Bread/Cake Shop
• A Market (visits fortnightly on a Wednesday)
• Post Office
• Bank - Banca Popolare di Sondrio

 

If the local shops do not meet your shopping needs, a larger supermarket is a two minute drive north in Musso or an even larger supermarket is a ten minute drive north in Consiglio di Rumo and if you really want to do a "big shop" there is the Shopping centre at Iperal Fuentes near Collico.
